Alê Espaço de Arte is happy to announce the opening of the solo exhibition by visual artist, singer and composer Fábio Leão.
The opening of the exhibition accompanies a hybrid event (in person with live broadcast on YouTube and social media) launching the first musical project by the band “Vraau”, composed by the artist: the eponymous EP “Recalculando a Rota”. The title of the exhibition refers to the fact that it is the first time that the artist establishes bridges between his visual work and his music. The works speak directly to his new musical project where each of the 6 diptychs represents a song from the EP in order to continue establishing connections between his productions, in a symbiosis where looking informs listening, and vice versa, mutual and constant.
The entry of “Vraau” encompasses a more Pop Rock universe, with a touch of Brazilian music marking the beginning of the band’s semi-physical, semi-digital format, with “Fábio Leão” accompanied by his digital partners “Mark Flame” and “Melanie Fire” and their supporting musicians.
Born in Arapiraca, AL, Brazil, Fábio Leão works in his research and field of interest discussing the image in contemporary times, highlighting the presence and physicality of ordinary things and spaces. To this end, he works on the idea of displacement and overlap between objects, spaces, languages and media through drawings, sculptures, installations, videos and monotypes.
He participated in several exhibitions, among which the solo exhibitions stand out: “Re[a]presentation” at the Paulo Setúbal Museum (Tatuí – SP, 2016) and “Displacements” at the Cañizares Gallery of the UFBA School of Fine Arts (Salvador – BA, 2013). And he was also part of national and international group exhibitions, including: “MARP Annual Exhibition Program” (Ribeirão Preto, 2017). “Archetyp” at the Dialogart gallery (Vienna, Austria, 2015), “O Saber da Linha” at Pinta London Art Fair (London, 2014), “Arte e Design” at Torre Santander (São Paulo, 2013)
